Work with me

Put the system to work on your business.

The Owner's Operating System is the method. Coaching and advisory are where I apply it with you, to your actual decisions: one on one with owners of small companies building toward scale, or with the leadership team of a company that's ready to scale.

The same seven areas at two scopes: the owner at the center, the leadership team around itMINDSETNUMBERSPRICINGSALESPRODUCTTEAMCAPITALOwner1:1 COACHINGLeadership teamTEAM ADVISORY

Where we start depends on where the company is.

Building toward scale

1:1 Owner Coaching

You're running faster every month just to keep things where they are.

Like a mouse on a wheel, the harder you run, the faster it spins. Every sale, every hire and every hard call still runs through you. Coaching gets you off the wheel by building the repeatable processes a company needs before it can scale.

Ready to scale

Leadership Team Advisory

The processes work. Now the leadership team has to move as one.

Your company is ready to scale, and the next stage depends on how the leadership team decides, leads and holds each other accountable. I work with the team directly, from outside the org chart.

The work

Same questions. Different scope.

For an ownerFor a leadership team

Mindset and culture

For an ownerMaking the shift from employee to owner thinking, when every call is yours and so is the money.

For a leadership teamGetting people across a growing company to think and act like owners: moving quickly, owning results and making calls without waiting for permission.

Numbers

For an ownerKnowing whether the business works: projections, unit economics and what break-even really takes.

For a leadership teamA shared set of numbers the leadership team runs the business on.

Pricing and margins

For an ownerWhat to charge, whether your price covers what the business really costs to run, and when to raise it.

For a leadership teamPricing discipline across products and channels, and protecting margin as the company scales.

Sales and marketing

For an ownerWhere customers actually come from, selling as the owner, and when to hand sales to someone else.

For a leadership teamBuilding a repeatable sales engine, and getting marketing, sales and product pulling in the same direction.

Product and growth

For an ownerWhat to build or offer next, what to stop doing, and how fast to grow without outrunning your cash.

For a leadership teamReplacing ad hoc product decisions with formal product management: how ideas get validated, how the roadmap gets set and who owns the call.

Team and leadership

For an ownerWho to hire first, how to attract strong people away from safer, higher-paying jobs, and when to hand off work you've always done yourself.

For a leadership teamHow the leadership team leads together: how decisions get made, how accountability works and how the team develops the people who report to it.

Capital and acquisition

For an ownerHow much runway you really have, when to spend and when to hold, and whether buying a business is the right move.

For a leadership teamAligning the leadership team on how to deploy capital for scale, including whether an acquisition belongs in the plan.

Who you'll work with

I've made the mistakes. The system keeps you from repeating them.

I spent 13 years in corporate before building and buying businesses of my own: eight so far, two exited, six still owned. Each one taught me something, often the hard way. The Owner's Operating System is how I turned those lessons into frameworks and systems, so the owners and leadership teams I work with don't repeat my mistakes.

Since 2021, I've coached more than 50 owners through the same transition.

Why I coach owners

I've seen it from every side. I've launched businesses and acquired them. I've made the hard trade-off between protecting runway and investing in growth. And I've had my share of false starts on scaling.

Why I advise leadership teams

I've been part of a leadership team that worked perfectly and one that was completely dysfunctional. The difference came down to a shared understanding of three things: the vision, the strategy and the process.

How an engagement runs

Four phases, from priorities to practice.

Every engagement is shaped to the business. The four phases stay the same.

Phase 1

Understand and prioritize

Understand where the business currently stands. Identify the key constraints and set the goals of the engagement.

You getAgreed priorities. Success measures. An initial action plan.
Phase 2

Design the destination

Define what the business should look like when the work is done, and the strategy to get there. If the goal is a new product, that means setting its parameters, the go-to-market plan and how the sales team gets behind it.

You getA clear end state. The strategy to reach it. An owner for every piece.
Phase 3

Put it in motion

Plans stall in execution, so this phase is built around it. We work on a steady rhythm, hold each other to what was committed, and solve problems while they're still small.

You getVisible progress. A rhythm the team keeps. Momentum that doesn't depend on me.
Phase 4

Hand over the keys

The goal is a business that runs the new way without me in the room. We measure what changed against the Phase 1 goals, tighten what isn't working, and hand the practices to you and your team.

You getResults measured against the goals. Practices your team owns. A clear view of the next stage.

For owners, the work centers on your decisions, your priorities and an operating playbook. For leadership teams, it centers on alignment, accountability, operating processes and execution.

Questions

What owners and CEOs ask first.

Which service is right for me?

You don't need to decide before we talk. If you own a smaller business and want an experienced sounding board as you build toward scale, 1:1 Owner Coaching is likely the fit. If you lead an established company that's ready to scale and needs its leadership team aligned, Leadership Team Advisory is. We'll sort it out in the first conversation.

What happens in the Ownership Conversation?

I spend most of our time understanding your business, your goals and what's in the way. I'll share a first observation or two, explain how I work, and sketch what working together could look like. It's complimentary, up to 45 minutes, with no obligation.

Do I need to prepare?

No. After you schedule, you'll get a short optional questionnaire. It takes about five minutes and doesn't ask for financial documents.

What do I receive afterward?

If there's a fit, a written roadmap within two business days, with priorities, a timeline, milestones and deliverables. It's a starting point for deciding on an engagement, not a full diagnosis of the business. If I don't think I'm the right fit, I'll tell you.

How do you measure success?

We define it at the start. Depending on your goals, that might be better financial results, stronger operating processes, clearer accountability or a strategic initiative delivered. We set the milestones and deliverables up front and review progress against them along the way.

How long does an engagement last, and how often do we meet?

It depends on what we're working on. Some engagements are a defined project with milestones, and others grow into a longer advisory relationship. We'll set a meeting rhythm that leaves room for action between sessions.

Do we meet virtually or in person?

Virtual works well for ongoing coaching and advisory. For leadership teams, some sessions, like strategic planning or alignment work, can be worth doing in person. We'll decide together.

Do I need to take the course first?

No. Coaching and advisory start from your business as it is today. Where it helps, I draw on the tools and frameworks from The Owner's Operating System.

Will you tell me what to do?

When my experience can help, yes. I'll ask hard questions, challenge assumptions and give you a clear point of view. The decisions, and the business, stay yours.

Is everything confidential?

Yes. I treat client conversations and business information as confidential, and the specific commitments are written into the engagement agreement.

The Ownership Conversation

Sometimes the most valuable next step is a conversation.

Bring your biggest business challenge. In a complimentary conversation of up to 45 minutes, we'll look at where you are, where you want to go and what it might take to get there.

  • A clearer view of the challenges worth addressing
  • How I work with owners and leadership teams
  • A preliminary roadmap with timeline, milestones and deliverables
